ID EGO

(FREUD )
THE ID AND EGO
ID
The id contains our basic psychic energy or libido, and is expressed by means of stress reduction. Thus, we act in an attempt to reduce this voltage to a level more tolerable. To meet the needs and maintain a comfortable level of tension, it is necessary to interact with the real world. For example, hungry people should go in search of food, if they want to release the tension induced by starvation. Therefore, it is necessary to establish some kind of proper connection between the demands of the id and reality.

EGO(ich)
The ego serves as a mediator is a facilitator of the interaction between the id and the circumstances of the external world. The ego is the reason or rationality, in contrast to the persistent and irrational passion of the id. Freud called the ego ich, translated into English as "I" (I "in Portuguese). He did not like the word ego and rarely used it. While the yearns id blindly and ignores the reality, the ego is aware of reality, manipulates it and thus regulates the id. the ego obeys the reality principle, restraining the demands on the pursuit of pleasure until you find the appropriate object to satisfy the need and reduce tension.

The ego does not exist without the id, but rather the ego draws its strength from the id. The ego exists to help the id and is constantly striving to satisfy the instincts of the id.

ID
